Raised Beds created in Walled Garden

We are well on our way now to finishing the Kitchen Garden here in the Walled Garden @ Dunsland. With great help from Larry Lynch of Lynch Garden Design we have cleared the sunniest, highest part of the Walled Garden and we have created raised beds, gantry beds and other beds to plant fruit and veg plants in. The cold frame has been semi – restored – still needs the glass roof to be constructed and fitted – another days work!. Any existing trees from the original garden have been retained and are being lovingly nurtured back to health. These include a fantastic Fig tree (Ficus), Grapevine (Vitis) and some pear and apple trees (Pyrus and Malus).

Have a look at the photos and see the porogress.

Below, see the first of the raised beds raises its seeds towards heaven. In Medieval times it was believed that plants did better in raised beds as they were lifted towards heaven.

How new it all looks. Raised beds now done, it's time to make the beds for the potatoes and brassicas
